Best Relationships Ever

My intention in this blog is to provide tools to you – the reader – that will give you the opportunity to greatly enhance your relationship to your body, your self, and your lover or partner. When I first began writing Best Relationships Ever about dating and romantic love, I quickly realized a significant component to love was learning to love ourselves. We hear this frequently, but what I rarely hear is something I believe is even more profound – what I have come to view as the primary place that love seeks to reach, the starting point: loving our bodies.

People often experience a deep sense of pain and woundedness about their bodies – this wonderful body that carries us through our lives.  Upon recognizing that the very foundation of loving begins with our relationship to our body, I set aside the Best Relationships Ever program (coming soon) and developed Fall In Love with Your Body Now.  So, we begin at the beginning, building the foundation.  From this foundation, loving ourselves, and romantic relationship, evolves more naturally.

Here is the progression:

  1. Love your body
  2. Love your self
  3. Freely give and receive love from others

Although I am a clinical psychologist, the purpose of the blog — and the learning tools I will offer – are not to provide “therapy”. Rather, I will provide information that you can use to improve your personal life.  It is you, the reader’s responsibility to take those tools and apply them to your own life.   I am not your therapist, but rather a partner in a process of self-transformation.

As we proceed together, I look forward to your input.   Your feedback, questions and concerns will, to a large degree, guide the direction of our process together.  This blog is for YOU.

For over 35 years I have delved into the personal growth and transformation arena.  My interest in psychology began as a teenager.  I was fascinated by the behavior of people – what causes us to feel, think, and act as we do?

While I haven’t answered all those questions, the quest has been remarkable and I know I will keep learning and expanding until I close my eyes for the last time.  Hopefully, you will too! I love that we cannot know it all.  There is always the next level of growth and expansion.  I believe that the universe expands with us and that we contribute to that expansion.

What a great ride we are on!  Life here on planet earth is amazing!

My passion for falling in love with our bodies and having the best relationships ever is born from personal experiences that have altered the way I view life.  I am committed to sharing these insights with others because I believe they are core concerns for humans – and areas where we often struggle and experience pain and suffering.

I am no exception. I have not arrived on top of a mountain and I do not believe there is a mountain top to arrive upon.  Life is a process and is about the journey.  I do not hold myself up as having completely mastered loving my body and relationships.  My life is not perfect – and I don’t aspire to be.

I have, though, developed some tools along the way as a result of my many years of exploration in personal growth and psychology, and most significantly my personal life experiences.  I usually apply those tools in my own life and they have brought me joy and hope. In the moments that I forget, I know how to get back on track.  My faith in life – and love – remains intact.  And that is what I wish for you!

We all have core beliefs whether we are aware of them or not and I now hold a core belief that life is meant to be enjoyed!   Joy and happiness are a state of mind that can be cultivated.  My vision is that we will come together as a community, a tribe – like-minded yet diverse – with the intention of supporting one another in embracing more and more joy and happiness in our lives.

It is my hope that everyone will feel welcome here: men and women, people of various ethnic backgrounds, and sexual preferences.  Diversity is one of life’s greatest gifts and something I value immensely.  We have so much to learn – and enjoy – from one another.

While this introduction may appear serious in nature, make no mistake, we are going to have some fun along the way.  I love irreverent humor and fun!

We may even have a good laugh at ourselves sometimes as we notice how fiercely we hold onto our own personal problems, and how silly they can seem when viewed within the “big picture”.  That’s called perspective!

So, grab a cup of java, tea, or a glass of wine perhaps, and let’s hang out together and have a chat.

Welcome and feel free to visit often!
